Composition: 100 ml of IODINĂ 10%, cutaneous solution contain 10 g of povidone-iodine (equivalent to 1 g of active iodine) and excipients.
Indications:
Preoperative disinfection of the skin and mucous membranes.
Asepsis of superficial wounds, including skin burns. Adjunct in bacterial and fungal skin infections and mucous membranes susceptible to superinfection. IODINĂ 10% does not sterilize the skin areas, it only reduces temporarily the number of microorganisms.
Use:
IODINĂ 10% is applied either as such or diluted, depending on the indication and the affected area:
– applied as such, by blotting, for disinfection of intact skin (allow the cutaneous solution to establish contact with the affected area, for 1 to 2 minutes), and in case of minor burns and skin infections (apply the solution 3 to 4 times a day, until the resolution of symptoms is achieved);
– applied 10% diluted (with distilled water or saline solution), for wound washing; applied 2% diluted (normal saline) for wound irrigation. The dilute solution will be prepared only before use.
